Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Wednesday, 5 March 2008

The boutique city of Wellington, New Zealand, now has a new 4 Star property, the centrally-located Quality Hotel Wellington which opened recently to help meet soaring demand for business and leisure accommodation.

The 62-room property, in lively Cuba Street, is part of the Choice Hotels chain, and conveniently positioned alongside her sister property, the 114-room Comfort Hotel Wellington. It features conference facilities for up to 220 guests.

“The Quality Hotel is a fantastic addition to Wellington’s accommodation inventory, offering more options for both business and leisure travellers,” said Sarah Peacock, Australia Marketing Manager for Positively Wellington Tourism.

In addition, there are 54 new nearby apartments, 20 of which are managed as part of the Quality Hotel Wellington. These apartments include 10 penthouses with excellent city and harbour views.

The ground floor has been designed with Edwardian-styled foyers and lounges, building on the elegance of the original heritage hotel “The People’s Palace”, which opened on the site a century ago. Speciality shops and cafés on Cuba Street are integrated with the hotel complex.

“Quality Hotel Wellington’s location on vibrant Cuba Street is a real drawcard,” said Ms Peacock. “It enables visitors to easily experience the culinary delights this gourmet city has to offer. Walk out the hotel door, and find yourself amidst some of Wellington’s most buzzing cafés, restaurants and bars.”

The hotel is currently offering a March special, to celebrate its ahead of schedule opening. Stay any 3 consecutive nights in the Quality Hotel Wellington for only NZ $480.
