The hotel will be used for student training and provide the idea introduction to their hospitality careers. Besides this, Dusit has plans to recruit a few thousand more staff and employees from the Philippines for several new Dusit International hotel openings in the Middle East over the next few years.

Chanin Donavanik, Chief Executive Officer of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited, said “Lyceum of the Philippines University is such a well known and established institution with campuses in various strategic locations, in the fastest growing region of the Philippines. We are extremely pleased to be working with the highly respected Laurel Family of the Lyceum Organization. Dusit will open more than ten new hotels globally in the next few years and we will need many new employees to join our new hotels. Hospitality graduates from the Philippines are extremely professional and dedicated to service, just as we are in Thailand. So the Philippines will be our major source of manpower and we intend to recruit many of our students to work for us.”

LPU, currently with the largest student enrollment of more than 10,000 students in the Philippines in Hotel & Restaurant Management and Tourism, plans to upgrade facilities at all their campuses to meet the high standard expected for the future programs. State-of-art facilities for “kitchen” training and various practical labs will be created or introduced at all campuses. In Manila, a spacious new learning center will be constructed at the Intramuros campus with fully equipped classrooms, training rooms, demonstration kitchens, and student practical kitchens, and other modern facilities. This new center is targeted to be fully operational in mid 2010. A full service hotel of 54 rooms with all facilities is also being planned to serve as training hotel and will be connected to this new learning center in Manila.

Roberto P. Laurel, President of the Manila and Cavite Campuses, and Peter Laurel, President of the Batangas and Laguna Campuses, both said the Lyceum Group “Looks forward to working for the realization of the objectives of our agreement and we are delighted to have Dusit Thani as our partner for Excellence in Hospitality Education in the Philippines.”
