Marriott signs Seventh JW Hotel in India

Marriott has signed a management contract with Uppal Hospitality Ltd for the group's seventh JW Marriott-branded hotel in India. The 206-room JW Marriott Hotel Gurgaon is expected to open mid-2009 in suburban New Delhi and will be located in Gurgaon on the Delhi-Jaipu4 Highway.

The JW Marriott Hotel Gurgaon will offer four dining options including a three-meal casual restaurant, two specialty restaurants and an informal caf-deli/bakery. In addition, the hotel will have a spacious lobby lounge, a stylish bar and a pool bar.

Recreational amenities will include a 2,000-square meter spa and fitness. The spa will offer five treatment rooms and the fitness center will offer a spacious gym, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. An outdoor swimming pool will round out its recreational amenities.

Other amenities that will be offered by the hotel will include a gift/sundries shop, retail shops, a business center and an executive lounge.

For conferences and social events, the JW Marriott Hotel Gurgaon will have 1,220 square meters of meeting space. This will be comprised of a 400-square meter ballroom that will be divisible into five sections, three additional meeting rooms of various sizes, each of which will be divisible into two sections; and a board room.

The Marriott International portfolio in India today consists of six operating hotels with another 24 new projects in India slated to open through 2012 under signed management agreements.

Marriott currently operates the following hotels in India: the 358-room JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai; the 178-room Goa Marriott Resort Panjim; the 287-room Hyderabad Marriott; the 286-room Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Center; the 171-unit Mumbai Lakeside Chalet Marriott Executive Apartments; and the 238-room Courtyard by Marriott Chennai. Twenty-four additional properties are under construction or planned.
