Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Wednesday, 30 January  2008

Jumeirah, the fast growing Dubai-based luxury international hospitality management group and a member of Dubai Holding, has been voted ‘Best Leisure Hotel Chain’ by the UK travel trade in the 2008 Travel Weekly Globe Awards.

“We are delighted and proud to have been acknowledged by the UK travel trade community as the top leisure chain in the world” said Derek Picot, Regional General Manager, Europe for the Jumeirah Group. “We are extremely thankful of the trust and confidence placed upon us by the travel agent community and we look forward to continue providing our guests with a true STAY DIFFERENT™ experience as we expand throughout the world.”

Organised by Travel Weekly, one of the UK’s leading travel trade titles, the Travel Weekly Globe Award Winners are selected by travel agents and all entries are counted by an independent company.  Since their inception in 1977, the Travel Weekly Globe Awards have celebrated the travel industry’s high flyers, strongest performers and hottest brands. This year, the awards ceremony was held on January 15 under a new title: The Globe Travel Awards.

January is not over yet, but Jumeirah has already reaped its fair share of honours since the beginning of 2008. The Jumeirah Group was recently named ‘Best Middle Eastern Hotel Chain’ and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel received the ‘Best Hotel in the Middle East’ award from Business Traveller (Germany); while the American magazine Global Traveler voted Jumeirah ‘Best Hotel Chain in the Middle East’ for the second consecutive year. Jumeirah also won the ‘Corporate Employer of the Year 2007’ award from the British Association of Hospitality Accountants (BAHA).
