Nikhil Dhodapkar appointed Managing Director of Abacus Distribution Systems India

Abacus has appointed Mr Nikhil Dhodapkar as Managing Director of its wholly owned subsidiary Abacus Distribution Systems (India) Pvt Ltd.

With 20 years experience in the travel industry, Mr Dhodapkar has held senior management positions within the aviation, hospitality, tourism, FMCG and .com companies through Asia Pacific.

Before his move to Abacus, Mr Dhodapkar held senior management position with Carlson Hotels Worldwide, South Asia and he was also the recipient of the Young Achiever Award in Marketing 2008 from the Pacific Asia Travel Writer’s Association. The award was presented at the ITB Berlin in March 2008.

Mr Kenneth Low, Vice President of South Asia for Abacus said Mr Dhodapkar’s vast experience across the full spectrum of the travel industry will be a tremendous asset to Abacus and demonstrates the GDS’s continued focus on India as a strategic market.

“In the last year, the Abacus team in India has set the stage for Abacus to foray into the Corporate TMC segment in India and also maintain our position of strength in the online space,” said Mr Low. “We are confident that Nikhil’s experience and understanding of the travel industry in India will stand him in a good stead to lead the team in India to continue to add value for our partners and collectively realise the growth opportunities India presents.”

Mr Nikhil Dhodapkar takes over the helm from interim Managing Director Ms. Charmaine Ng who is returning to Singapore to rejoin Abacus International Pte. Ltd.
