Carlson Hotels has signed an agreement with Thailand's VCAL Business Group, to manage a new Radisson hotel in Bangkok's main commercial hub. This is one of seven hotels currently under development in Thailand for Carlson Hotels and it is scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2008.

Radisson Hotel Bangkok Sathorn will offer 436 rooms, including studio rooms plus one, two or three bedroom suites, all available for daily or long-term stays. All suites feature a fully-equipped kitchenette.

"Thailand is a top priority for expansion, along with India and China, as we focus on increasing our presence in key gateway cities and resort destinations across the region," said Martin Rinck, President and Managing Director, Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific.

"Bangkok is the country's most important business and tourism destination and this hotel is being developed in one of the best locations in the city, adjacent to the city's prime financial and commercial offices," Rinck added.

Radisson Hotel Bangkok Sathorn is located in the business district and close to Silom, one of the city's most vibrant shopping and entertainment areas. The hotel will have a variety of restaurants and meeting facilities as well as a business centre, gym and swimming pool.

"The primary target market for the hotel will be the international business traveller. Aside from the strategic location in the city's key commercial area with headquarters of major foreign financial institutions, the Sathorn district also houses a number of foreign embassies," said Khun Apichai Taechaubol, Executive Chairman, VCAL Business Group Co. Ltd.

Currently another six hotels are planned under Carlson's management for Thailand under the Regent, Radisson and Park Plaza brands in Bangkok, Krabi and Phuket.
