General Manager Appointments at Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts

Jean Stéphane Grasset has been appointed General Manager of the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Mauritius. He succeeds John Wood who is now responsible for Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna. Alain Chatel has left the resort on the Red Sea to lead the Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Beirut.

Coming from Santiburi Golf Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand, the French national Jean Stéphane Grasset joins Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts for the first time in the function of General Manager of the hotel group’s flagship in Mauritius. He has a great deal of experience in the upscale hotel business and, in addition to Thailand, has worked in Singapore, Cyprus, France and Mauritius in the past.

John Wood, responsible for Mövenpick Resort & Spa Mauritius since October 2007, is the new General Manager in El Gouna – the “Little Venice on the Red Sea”. A dual national of Britain and Cyprus and graduate of the École Hotelière de Lausanne, he has gained valuable experience in Cyprus, the Caribbean, UAE, India, Russia and Croatia.

In El Gouna he is replacing Alain Chatel who is now General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Beirut. The French national was responsible for the leading resort on the Red Sea since April 2006, having previously held various positions in ten different countries including Indonesia, Nigeria, Senegal and French Polynesia for Le Méridien and InterContinental.
