Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Daning wins China Hotel Development of the Year Award

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Wednesday, 2 April 2008

The Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Daning was recently awarded the China Hotel Development of the Year Award at the 4th Annual China Hotel Development and Financing Seminar in Beijing. The seminar was hosted late last month by Horwath HTL which was established in 1987 as a regional firm responsible for all Hotel, Tourism and Leisure consulting for Horwath International - one of the world's largest consulting organizations specializing in the hospitality industry.

Beating out all the new hotels that opened in 2007 in China, the Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Daning was awarded for its thorough planning and implementation of the pre-opening and post-opening strategies and the successful positioning the hotel in the region. The construction of the hotel was on schedule and within budget. Construction started around mid-October 2005 with completion of construction 18 months after driving the first pile into the ground while actual construction cost was within the forecasted estimates. The hotel held its grand opening on April 24, 2007.

"It is truly a great honor to receive this prestigious award" Peter Khong, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Daning, said. "I would like to extend my appreciation to all the people who were involved in the opening of the hotel and in the selection process for this prestigious award."

Achieving the intended market positioning was not an easy task at the beginning. It has been a challenging feat as the hotel opened in late April which led right into the low hot summer months. By building awareness in the market, the hotel was appointed as the Operations Center for the Special Olympics organizing committee last October, which successfully established the hotel as one of the best international business hotels in the region. The Special Olympics no doubt provided a huge boost to hotel's image and also lent a hand in promoting the hotel's location.

Four Points by Sheraton Shanghai, Daning's product was built to match the market environment and demand. The hotel in the heart of Zhabei District - North of Shanghai's Central Business District is conveniently located just a few minutes walk to Yanchang Road subway station and within easy access to the North-South Elevated Highway and Inner Ring Road.

The 326-room hotel forms part of the exciting new integrated complex, Life Hub @ Daning, an open air, innovative urban lifestyle concept consisting of a hotel, offices, retails stores, restaurants and bars, entertainment, culture, education and ancillary services.

The hotel's tastefully decorated rooms are inclusive of 23 suites, well equipped with modular furniture, New Four Comfort Bed, large flat screens, broadband internet access, two dual-line telephones with speaker and voicemail. The hotel boasts four dining outlets, health club, spa, indoor heated pool as well as a 1,600 sqm of meeting and banquet space. The grand ballroom can be flexibly divided into two rooms for groups of up to 350 persons and supported by five function rooms, one Boardroom, one Chairman's Room and Business Center on the same level. Wireless internet is available in all meeting rooms and public areas.
