Melbourne has doubled the number of pre-touring options on offer to Hosted Buyers and media to AIME 2009, one of Asia Pacific’s premier meetings and incentive events. AIME 2009 will be held on 17 and 18 February at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Australia, with pre touring commencing on Saturday 14 February.

Twelve pre-touring programs are available in half-day, full-day or two-day one night options.

“We have created an extensive pre touring program that provides a wonderful range of experiences in Melbourne and in some of the most picturesque regions of Victoria,” said Sandra Chipchase, CEO, Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau. “It’s a program you won’t want to miss. Whether you are an Australian buyer or an international buyer, you will find pre touring an invaluable source of great ideas for your next conference or incentive.”

The seven two-day excursions are offered on Saturday and Sunday, 14 and 15 February and buyers will need to arrive in Melbourne by 13 February. The tours will showcase some of the most beautiful and scenic areas around Melbourne including the historic gold rush cities of Ballarat and Bendigo, the river-side towns of Echuca-Moama, the home of the little penguins, Phillip Island, the spectacular Great Ocean Road and Warrnambool, and the stunning Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas, home to beautiful beaches and challenging golf courses.

Full-day tours on Sunday 15 February mix stunning vistas with delicious food and wine experiences, or give participants the chance to travel back in time to the gold rush days.

Half-day tours on Sunday 15 February will deliver the best of Melbourne, exploring street art in hidden laneways, or creating your own restaurant in the historic Carlton BrewHouse.

“Our survey of Hosted Buyers who attended AIME 2008 pre touring showed that 63% of buyers found their perceptions about Melbourne and Victoria changed after discovering the wonderful new and different venues and experiences offered in the region,” Ms Chipchase said.

All international and interstate buyers who qualify for the AIME Hosted Buyer Program will receive airfares, airport transfers, accommodation, entry to AIME 2009, entry to the Business Events Forum, a special Hosted Buyer Master Class, the AIME Welcome Reception and exclusive access to the Hosted Buyer Lounge. Buyers who register and qualify for the program by 17 October will also receive an exclusive AIME gift.
