Park Hotel Group’s Corporate Chef Ivan Yeo is leading the Singapore team which is heading to Germany for the 22nd IKA – Olympiade Der Koche – the culinary equivalent of the Olympics. The team will be pitching its ‘Restaurants des Nations’ menu at the event in Erfurt, Germany, from 19-22 October.

The 25-year-veteran was part of the Singapore Chefs Association’s National Culinary Team that emerged Overall Champion at the 1998 Expoglast Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg and 2nd Runners-up at the 1999 IGEHO Culinary World Masters in Basel, Switzerland.

Chef Ivan is  now steering the national team as head coach, leading a team of four hotel chefs and two instructors from culinary academies, for the event in October. “Four years ago, the Singapore team won two golds and two silvers, and was 7th overall. We want to better that achievement this year,” he said.

Held every four years in Germany and organised by the German Chefs Association, the 22nd IKA - Olympiade Der Koche will see teams from 28 countries competing during the four-day Competition. Each team will compete in the Cold Food Exhibition and Hot Food Competition in the Restaurants des Nations, including having to whip up a three-course meal for 110 persons within five hours.
