Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 18 August 2008

The Hilton Beijing Wangfujing, which opened just before the start of the Olympics, features one of the largest wine cellars in Beijing. Aptly named The Vintage Bank, the selection of over 10,000 bottles and more than 500 different labels, have been carefully selected by Master of Wine Dr. Ron Georgiou MW, one of only 262 Masters of Wine in the world, and resident Wine Sommelier Peter Teng.

All wines were selected to be pairable with the hotel’s signature restaurants, Chynna, Vasco’s, Flames and The Library’s a la carte, dessert and tasting menus.

Nils-Arne Schroeder, General Manager of Hilton Beijing Wangfujing said, “One of the most memorable things about the hotel will be the cuisine. Whether dining in our signature Chinese restaurant, Chynna, or enjoying light taste impressions in Flames, or delighting in our fresh Macanese cuisine in Vasco’s, nobody will be able to forget the dining experience.”

Vasco’s is one of the only Macanese restaurants in Beijing. Macanese cuisine blends Portuguese, Chinese, Indian and Mediterranean cooking techniques. Vasco’s offers all day dining and guests can choose from an a la carte menu offering selections that are light and healthy with a lot of flavor. For breakfast the  restaurant also includes a “show kitchen” where diners can follow the preparation of their meal.

Chynna is designed to be a theatrical space serving an innovative menu that combines regional Chinese classics with modern cooking techniques. This nouveau gourmet Chinese restaurant is adorned with Chinese artifacts and ornate chandeliers. The restaurant serves modern interpretations of Cantonese, Sichuan, Anhui and  Hunan cuisine. A nutritionist is on hand at Chynna to provide recommendations on healthy and nutritious cuisine to guests. Working closely with the Chef de Cuisine he will develop menus to meet the dietary needs of diners.

Chynna also has a resident Tea Master. Diners will have the opportunity to be introduced to the history and natural wonders of tea by the esteemed Tea Master, who has created a distinguished collection of White Tea, Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Black, Red and Flower teas. Each collection is masterfully crafted and artfully  presented paying homage to the tradition of hand blending and scenting.

The Library offers a cozy lounge atmosphere complete with a roaring fireplace and stunning city views. The Library boasts an array of menu selections all day long, set against a chic and sophisticated backdrop of book-lined shelves, with an extensive collection of classical and contemporary book titles for guests to enjoy. Here guests can order an early morning cappuccino and freshly baked croissant or an afternoon gourmet snack whilst reclining in comfort, enjoying a good book. Specialty freshly baked deli items are prepared daily by the hotel’s master pastry chefs.

Flames is an intimate fireside bar with marbled walls, a wooden floor, and a striking linear fireplace that wraps around the venue. Conveniently located in close proximity to Vasco’s and Chynna, Flames offers innovative light-bites and cocktails skillfully prepared by the team of expert mixologists. The lounge offers nightly live entertainment with cool and contemporary music vibes.

Hilton Beijing Wangfujing features 255 guestrooms including 58 suites, the hotel is located on Wangfujing Street, one of Beijing’s most prestigious addresses. The property provides easy access to the city’s prominent commercial and cultural centres, and is a short walk from many major tourist and shopping attractions.
