Hotels in Ireland, Korea, Montenegro and Portugal join Great Hotels of the World

Great Hotels of the World, a collection of some of the world’s finest independent hotels, has significantly expanded its alliance with new hotels around the world joining as members. New hotel members include:

Seoul Plaza Hotel, South Korea: Situated in the centre of the South Korean capital’s central business and shopping district, the 455-room Seoul Plaza Hotel combines style and comfort and is the ideal base for business and leisure travellers.

The hotel’s meeting and convention centre combines modern facilities, convenient transportation and superb service to create an ideal setting for meetings and gatherings both large and small. A total of eight meeting rooms are available, ranging from the intimate Pine and Bamboo rooms to the Grand Ballroom which holds up to 1,000 people.

The spa provides the perfect escape from the stress of city life. A vast menu of spa treatments and medical treatments are on offer, including energy boosting treatments, traditional Korean massage, reflexology, pure gold anti-ageing facials, Botox and acne treatments.

The fitness club offers a number of outstanding facilities including a large well-equipped gym, swimming pool, aerobics studio, sauna, health clinic, indoor golf driving range and relaxation areas.

Additional in-house facilities include an ice-skating rink during the winter months, beauty parlour, flower shop, newsagents, tailors and travel agency.

Hotel Splendid, Montenegro: Part of the Montenegro Stars hotel group, Hotel Splendid was one of the first five-star hotels to call Montenegro home. Located on the edge of the Adriatic Sea, in the picturesque village of Becici, Hotel Splendid offers a total of 341 beautifully decorated rooms that combine natural beauty with sophisticated comfort.

The hotel’s conference centre offers a number of different sized meeting rooms. The main conference room, which can be divided into four smaller soundproof meeting rooms, is equipped with the latest business technology including video recording and translation systems.

At 3000 sqm, the beachfront spa is the biggest spa and wellness centre on the Adriatic Coast. A superb range of facilities are on offer, including indoor and outdoor pools, hammam, jacuzzi, thermal, steam, infrared and herbal saunas, solarium and fully equipped gym. As part of the spa centre, unique spa apartments allow guests to relax and enjoy treatments in one luxurious location. Spa packages are also available including couples packages and stress-reducing packages, in durations of one to six days.

The hotel also boasts an impressive collection of restaurants and bars. The main restaurant serves international dishes with elements of local cuisine and can seat up to 600 guests. A more intimate fine dining restaurant is located on the roof terrace with spectacular views over the Montenegrin mountains and the Adriatic Sea. A further two restaurants cater to casual and formal occasions and five bars offer the ideal place to relax and enjoy a drink or snack.

Additional benefits include a helicopter service, hairdresser, multipurpose sports court and live entertainment.

M'ar De Ar Aqueduto, Portugal: Located south of Lisbon, in the heart of the historical city of Evora – a UNESCO World Heritage Site - this boutique hotel was officially opened in September 2008 and its creative design reflects the unique charm of the region.

There are 64 rooms in total comprising classic doubles and twins, spa rooms, suites and royal suites, each equipped with modern amenities and facilities and with views of the aqueduct, the historical centre of Evora or the hotel gardens.

The Degust’AR restaurant is comfortable and sophisticated with traditional character conveyed by the vaulted ceilings, horseshoe arches and unusual frescoes decorating the walls. The menu reflects local cuisine with an emphasis on Mediterranean flavours.

The modern spa includes dedicated spa rooms for beauty and wellness treatments, gym, sauna and hydromassage facilities.

Lyrath Estate Hotel, Spa & Convention Centre, Ireland: Set in 170 acres of parkland and just over a kilometre away from the city of Kilkenny, Lyrath Estate Hotel combines contemporary hotel design with the elegance of an original 17th century house.

All of the 137 bedrooms have been furnished and decorated to the highest standards and feature a mini-bar, television, under-floor heating in all bathrooms and magnificent views over the estate or the gardens.

The hotel boasts a state-of-the-art convention centre which can host up to 1,500 delegates. All rooms within the conference centre are fitted with built-in front projection, self-controlled lighting and audiovisual equipment.

The Oasis Spa and Health Club provides the perfect opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and refresh. Its products are based on natural resources including thermal mineral water, plant extracts and essential oils. The team of experienced therapists offer a range of treatments including a chocolate and cinnamon body sculpting soufflé and facial, hot stone therapy, Tibetan windsphere massage and Indian head massage. There is also a 17-metre infinity pool, jacuzzi, steam room and a fully equipped gym.

La Perla Restaurant is a unique fine dining experience with a vast picture window running the length of the room. Yindees is the Asian restaurant offering a blend of authentic dishes in a modern and intimate setting. A selection of bars provides the perfect chance to unwind with views over the estate.
