IHG signs New Crowne Plaza Hotel in Riyadh

InterContinental Hotels Group in partnership with Mohammed A. Al-Swailem for Commercial Investment Co. Ltd. has signed what will be IHG’s second Crowne Plaza hotel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Crowne Plaza Riyadh is scheduled to open in late 2010.

The hotel which will feature over 300 rooms and suites, will be located in the northern part of Riyadh. Crowne Plaza Riyadh will sit directly between the airport and the city centre, allowing guests to enjoy quick access to Riyadh’s central business district while minimising travel time for busy corporate travellers.

John Bamsey, Chief Operating Officer, IHG, Middle East and Africa, said, “We are experiencing dramatic growth throughout the Kingdom, particularly in relation to our business accommodation segment, which is thriving. Business travel to Saudi Arabia is increasing year on year and this trend looks set to continue, as the Kingdom pushes forward with extensive business developments. Crowne Plaza Riyadh will cater to this growing demographic by providing quality accommodation, suited to the varying needs of our discerning business travellers.”

Crowne Plaza Riyadh will offer seven separate meeting rooms, spanning a total area of 800sqm. For larger scale events the hotel will offer a 450sqm Banqueting Hall with capacity for over 700 guests.

Guests will also be able to unwind and enjoy three primary dining outlets including; an all day dining restaurant, a specialty grill and an Asian noodle restaurant. For those looking to relax further the hotel will also feature an exclusive Health Club, while guests will also have access to the hotels fully-equipped gym.
