Royal Jet, an international luxury flight services company headquartered in Abu Dhabi, is backing Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s (ADAC) move to set up a dedicated executive airport hailing it as major stride forward in establishing the UAE capital as the region’s business aviation leader.

ADAC is to invest US $54.4 million in transforming the Al Bateen military base into an exclusive corporate jet facility.

“This initiative demonstrates the firm recognition of the Government of Abu Dhabi and its leaders of business aviation as a major development catalyst,” said Shane O’Hare, President & CEO of Royal Jet.

“Al Bateen’s location – just 10 kilometres from the capital’s diplomatic and business centres – will be a compelling advantage for our strong corporate client base and we are now working with the relevant authorities to assess our operational requirements for Al Bateen.”

Abu Dhabi is central to a Middle East business aviation landscape which is achieving IATA estimated average annual growth rates of around 6.8%. Though the lion’s share of the region’s corporate jet fleet is in the hands of Saudi owners, O’Hare believes, the Al Bateen development will put the UAE capital in pole position as the Middle East’s preferred business aviation hub.

“The planned evolution of Abu Dhabi into a vibrant international business centre and a stately global capital will add to the emirate’s already significant business aviation growth projectory. World-class facilities, such as Al Bateen, will ensure the UAE capital’s advancement on the world’s rapidly expanding business aviation scene providing clients with greater choice and exceptional facilities. Royal Jet, as the UAE private jet pioneer and now the country’s leading sector operator, will support this initiative in every way it can.”
