Shangri-La Hotels in Beijing launch Pre-Olympic Vacation Packages

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is now offering five-day / four-night “Pre-Olympic Vacation” packages at its four Beijing properties. Available until 30 June 2008, the four specially designed themed packages give travellers insight into the multifaceted Chinese capital in the lead-up to the 2008 Olympic Games.

All four packages feature visits to Olympic sites such as the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. Highlights of the “Art and Sport” package include a Peking Opera School tour, dinner at the late Peking Opera Master Mei Lanfang’s private mansion and a tour of the renowned 798 Art District, a hub of Chinese contemporary art. Guests will also visit the Beijing Sport School, where they can watch China’s future Olympic medalists train.

Guests booking the “History and Architecture” package will visit and learn about the capital’s iconic historic attractions, such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Summer Palace, from the perspective of architecture, imperial planning and feng shui, as well as see some of Beijing’s new ultra-modern architecture.

A sampling of the “Wine and Dine” package’s culinary adventures includes a tour of the Lotus Market, visits to classical and contemporary Chinese restaurants and cooking lessons.

The “Sight and Shop” package features guided shopping excursions tailored to those interested in traditional Chinese art and crafts, furniture, silk and pearls.

“Pre-Olympic Vacation” packages include four nights accommodation on the hotels’ executive club floors, round trip airport transportation, daily breakfast and lunch and one dinner at a hotel’s fine dining restaurant. Also included are tour transportation, private guides, entry fees for local attractions and selected meals at Beijing restaurants.

“Pre-Olympic Vacation” packages are priced only in RMB. The four packages can be booked at any one of the four Shangri-La hotels in Beijing. Rates start from:

- China World Hotel, Beijing – RMB25,500 (approximately US$3,490)
- The Kerry Centre Hotel, Beijing – RMB22,500 (approximately US$3,082)
- Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing – RMB20,500 (approximately US$2,808)
- Traders Hotel, Beijing – RMB18,500 (approximately US$2,534)

“Pre-Olympic Vacation” packages are based on double occupancy in a deluxe room, subject to availability, and include tax and service charges.
