ITB Berlin claim Registered as European Trademark

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 14 July 2008

For more than 40 years, ITB Berlin has been continuously expanding its position as the world’s leading marketing platform for the travel industry.

It is widely acknowledged as the pre-eminent market place for the travel trade. With some 11,000 exhibitors from all over the world it can offer an unrivalled international portfolio. Around 110,000 trade visitors attend the mammoth event in the German capital, and just under 40% of these are from abroad. The ITB Berlin accurately sums up these figures with its slogan “The World´s Leading Travel Trade Show”.

Since August 2007 this claim has been included in the ITB Berlin logo in all its communications with trade visitors. Messe Berlin has now obtained protection for the claim as an EU trademark from the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market.

The ITB Berlin is a trademark with a wide-ranging appeal. This year for the first time it is being exported to Asia. The ITB Asia will be taking place from 22 to 24 October 2008 at the Suntec Exhibition Centre in Singapore. It is expected to attract some 500 exhibition firms from the Asia Pacific region, Europe, North and South America, Africa and the Middle East. This three day trade show covers the leisure market as well as business travel and the MICE sector. Like ITB Berlin, ITB Asia will also present every area of the added value chain in tourism as well as an extensive convention programme.
