Banyan Tree Bangkok's Vertical Marathon to take place 28 September 2008

In a thunder of footsteps, fitness enthusiasts, charity supporters and members of the public will be returning to the Banyan Tree Bangkok on Sunday, 28th September from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the 10th Vertical Marathon. The finishing point for the race is at the hotel’s former helicopter pad on the 61st floor now converted to the award-winning Vertigo restaurant one of the highest al fresco restaurants in Asia.

A small registration fee of just 350 baht per person includes the official marathon t-shirt and a meal box. Trophies from HRH Princess Soamsawali, luxurious accommodation and gift vouchers are also up for grabs for winners of all categories.

The Vertical Marathon Package at the Banyan Tree Bangkok valid between 27th – 28th September includes a variety benefits. Highlights include staying in a luxurious suite, a sunset drink at Moon Bar, a Vertical Marathon entry ticket, breakfast or a lunch box, and a Vertical Marathon T-Shirt.

After an exhausting day at the event, relax and rejuvenate with a massage session at the Banyan Tree Spa where guests can enjoy a 20% discount. A 20% discount is also available on food at Rom Sai, Bai Yun, and Saffron.

The Vertical Marathon

Running up 1,093 steps is an exciting challenge for participants of all ages. In the previous race, the fastest time achieved by Boonchoo Jandacha was 6 minutes and 16 seconds.

Previous participants include the Chairman of Caring Hearts for Aids Foundation; Khun Saisom Wongsasukul; and the super stars, Mr. Oliver Pupart, Mr. Somchai Kaemkat and Mr. Tannaton Palkawong Na Ayudhya.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the “HIV Formula Feeding Fund”, a Thai Red Cross initiative under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali. Last year, the event raised a total of 515,000 baht (US$16,612) for this charity event, which Banyan Tree Bangkok has been supporting for several years. The fund assists vulnerable HIV patients, especially children, who require extra care and support.
