Singapore-based hotel management company, Parkroyal Hotels & Resorts, has been appointed by Chengdu Xinda Real Estate Development to manage its 361-room property in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in China. The hotel is located at Nanmen, a vibrant and urban part of Wuhou district.

Ms Wee Wei Ling, Executive Director of Parkroyal Hotels & Resorts said, “As part of our vigorous regional expansion plans, Parkroyal Chengdu has special significance for us, being our first in China. This property reflects the unique identity that we are building for Parkroyal – a lifestyle brand, a relaxed, genuinely friendly and caring attitude from a service aspect and a holistic approach from the viewpoint of our product and facilities.”

Chengdu’s location, adjacent to the eastern border of Tibet, and its rich cultural heritage dating back over 2,000 years, make it one of the most beautiful cities in China and one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the country.

Chengdu Xinda Real Estate Development is accelerating the construction of the hotel with the aim of opening it in late 2008. The property will primarily cater to business travelers offering ample business meeting and networking venues, seamless and innovative technology for efficient communication, as well as facilities and services that discerning business travelers have come to appreciate in5-star accommodations.

Other facilities will include a 500-guest ballroom and function rooms catering to varying needs of guests, and an outdoor swimming pool.

The signing of the Parkroyal Chengdu management agreement brings the total number of Parkroyal hotels in Asia to seven. Its current portfolio includes two hotels in Singapore, two in Malaysia, one in Myanmar and one in Vietnam.
