Venetian Macau Limited (VML) has appointed Mr. Antonio Ferreira (Mr. Wu Shun-him) as Managing Director, subject to Government approval. Dr. Luís Nuno Mesquita de Melo, who held the Managing Director position on an interim basis, will be appointed as General Counsel of VML and Member of the Board of Directors of VML and associated companies, replacing Pedro Branco as General Counsel who has decided to head up his own private practice.

Ferreira is the founder of the Wu’s Group, which first started with operations in Macau and successfully expanded to several countries and territories, including the United States, Japan, Portugal, Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Ferreira also plays an active role in many important Macau organizations, including the Macau Chamber of Commerce, Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association and the Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society.

“We are extremely honored and fortunate to have Mr. Ferreira join our company as Managing Director,” said William Weidner, President of Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS). “He is a widely-respected individual who, with more than 45 years of business experience in Macau, will bring important insights and perspectives to our on-going developments in Macau. He is clearly a strong addition to our already solid management team in Macau.”

In his role as Managing Director, Ferreira will be responsible mainly for interacting with the Macau SAR Government on the company’s duties and obligations relating to the Gaming Sub-Concession Agreement.

In addition to his successful business career, Ferreira is also a noted philanthropist. He has donated generously to various teaching and educational facilities, nursing colleges and hospitals. He has also donated significant amounts of money to several disaster relief efforts in the region.
