Celebrate Munich’s 850th Birthday with WORLDHOTELS

In 2008, Munich is celebrating its 850th birthday with a summer full of celebrations and events. The motto of the anniversary is ‘Building Bridges’, a celebration of the cities movement from a monastery to the hub of culture and high-technology that it is today.

The celebrations to be held throughout the summer of 2008 include theatrical shows, concerts, exhibitions in addition to the special events including the City foundation festival (June 14th-15th), an annual event that this year will be expanded to fully celebrate the birthday. The Old Town Ring Road Festival (July 19th – 20th) which is a musical and theatrical journey in time on the Old Town Ring Road and the Isar Bridge Festival (August 1st – 3rd), which incorporates the romantic elements of the city with a light installation on the bridge and music and dancing on the riverbanks.

Four of WORLDHOTELS’ Munich hotels are offering special packages to celebrate the 850th anniversary, ranging from the Deluxe Collection member Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Starnberg to the First Class Collection members Fleming’s Hotel München-City, Fleming’s Hotel München-Schwabing and the Eden Hotel Wolff. 

The superior Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Starnberg is located close to Lake Starnberg, only a short trip away from Munich – the ideal location to combine city feeling and country side atmosphere. The “Happy Birthday Munich” weekend package includes two nights in a Superior single or double room, including breakfast buffet, one day ticket per person for Munich’s public transportation (MVV), one welcome cocktail in the Hemingway Bar and a city map. The package starts at € 131 per person for a double room and is valid upon availability for the whole year.

The first class superior Hotel Eden Hotel Wolff is centrally located in Munich with access to all major public transportation systems. The “King Ludwig” package includes two nights in a Deluxe Alp-style room, a welcome cocktail, breakfast buffet, a traditional Bavarian veal sausage meal, a Bavarian delicatessen menu, free access to the wellness and fitness center, a “Grand Circle” city tour and a small surprise in the room. The package starts at € 188.50 per person for a double-room and is valid for the whole year (not during trade fairs and the Oktoberfest).

The Fleming’s Hotel München-Schwabing is a first class design hotel in one of the most exciting locations of Munich, the popular Schwabing district. The Fleming’s Hotel München-City is a stylish first class superior hotel located in the heart of Munich, within walking distance of many attractions and the main shopping district.

The two nights “Discover Munich” package, offered by both hotels, includes accommodation in a comfort room, breakfast, a glas of champagne at the hotel bar, a sight-seeing bus tour of Munich, as well as sauna, steambath and work out free of charge. For the Fleming’s Hotel München-Schwabing the package starts at € 131 per person in a double room. For the Fleming’s Hotel München-City the package starts at € 146 per person in a double room. The packages are subject to availability.
