COMO Shambhala Estate at Begawan Giri opens New Vitality Pool

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 7 August 2007

The COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali, the company’s flagship residential health retreat, has just launched a new Vitality Pool.

This cutting-edge facility was originally created by European scientists following nearly 20 years of research. It is located at Ojas, the Estate’s principal treatment area occupying a clearing high up in the forest above the River Ayung.

The Vitality Pool uses water tapped directly from The Source, a natural spring located in the estate’s environs; it has long been revered by locals for its healing properties. The spring water is heated to a temperature of 34°C, with a pH level of 7.4 to 7.6 (this increased PH level is absorbed by skin cells); it then runs through a bio-engineered Water Vivifier System.

This helps release free electrons thus increasing the number of positive ions and their capability in the water. A renewed molecular structure takes place, which ‘locks in’ the water’s negative free radicals.

The improvement in water quality is significant. The process softens the water and reduces chemical usage; this cuts out odours while dramatically removing the ageing effects of standard pools. It also makes the water ‘shine’ to reflect more light.

At 14 by four metres, the Vitality Pool can be used for treatments or exercise. It features six jet massage chairs, two powerjet workout walls, three jet exercise stations, a current wall, overhead spouts and two relaxation beds. Under supervision, these jets provide exacting massages for the back, neck and leg areas. It can also help with ankle rehabilitation, sciatica, meniscus injuries, general body conditioning and strength and flexibility training.

Guests can book a private ‘joint mobilising massage.’ Many of the exercises have been adapted from the teaching of Dr Sebastian Kneipp, the 19th-century Bavarian monk who was one of the forefathers of water healing (known as hydrotherapy).

The Vitality Pool therapies usually feature in a guest’s Wellness Program while staying at the estate. These Programs are created either on a bespoke basis, to deal with specific issues, or form part of the estate’s repertoire of dedicated, set-price packages, which include Detox, Stress, Ayurveda and Anti-Ageing.
