Martin Rinck appointed President and MD of Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific

Carlson Hotels has appointed a key addition to its management team in the Asia Pacific region. Martin Rinck, who has led business development at Rezidor Hotel Group for the past four years during a record-breaking period of growth and expansion, has been appointed president and managing director of Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific.

Martin assumes this position from Paul Kirwin who has been serving a dual role in the region as both president of Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific and president of the overall Carlson organization in Asia Pacific. Martin will move to Singapore in September and will officially start his new responsibilities on 1 October 2007. Paul will continue to serve as president of Carlson Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

Martin has a wealth of successful hotel industry experience. During his four years of leadership in business development at Rezidor, the company experienced strong growth in both traditional and emerging markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2006, Martin and his team set a new record in Rezidor business development with the signing of 32 new hotels representing 8,569 rooms. The Rezidor group manages Carlson Hotel brands in Europe, Middle East and Africa, which include Regent Hotels & Resorts, Radisson SAS, Park Inn, and Country Inns & Suites By Carlson.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Martin holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Brunel University, London, and attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. His hotel industry experience includes over 10 years with Inter-Continental Hotels & Resorts in Hamburg, Paris, San Francisco, Chicago, Lisbon and London and service with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia.

In a related development, the Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the promotion of Puneet Chhatwal as senior vice president and chief  development officer, taking the position vacated by Martin. Puneet has been a vice president of development with Rezidor since 2002 andpreviously served as a director of development for Carlson Hotels Worldwide in Europe.
