SynXis hires Patrick Andrès to Lead Asia Pacific Expansion

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 6 February 2007

SynXis, the Sabre Holdings business that provides hotel reservation management, distribution and technology services globally, has appointed 20-year industry veteran Patrick Andrès as general manager of SynXis in Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

Andrès’ well-rounded experience includes positions at the hotel level, in hospitality automation and electronic distribution. While based in Hong Kong, Andrès oversaw the North-Asia region of Micros-Fidelio for much of the 1990’s and recently served as director of business development for Expedia Travel focusing on building and implement two-way interfaces between central reservation systems and Expedia sites. Prior to joining SynXis, he served as a member of the information technology team at the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

“I have followed SynXis for many years and have always been impressed with their technology and their customer base,” said Andrès. “I am excited to use my experience in the fields of technology and electronic distribution to increase our presence in Asia Pacific while helping to drive distribution for the existing properties.”

“We have made great strides in the APAC market with recent sales to Peninsula Hotels and Millenium Copthorne and we felt the time was right to have dedicated sales and operations in that region,” said David Meltzer, vice president of sales for SynXis. “Patrick has great experience in the hospitality technology field and he is a great addition to our team.”

Andrès received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa and has been a frequent spokesperson at industry events as well as a guest lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Department of Hotel and Tourism Management during his years in Asia.
