The Renaissance Dubai Hotel's General Manager, Francisco Giles, was recently named General Manager of the Year at the 4th annual Hotelier Middle East awards ceremony held at the Madinat Jumeirah.

Running for the fourth year in Dubai, the awards recognize hotel staff at all levels. For the category of General Manager of the Year the judges were looking for a role model and a person ready to face challenges head on, leadership excellence as well as showing communication excellence with both staff and guests.

Under Francisco’s leadership, the Renaissance Dubai Hotel has won over 25 awards in the past 5 years, including the Leadership Excellence Award, Food and Beverage Excellence Award and Best Catering Revenue Improvement Award for Middle East and Africa. This year, Francisco was named “General Manager of the Year” for the Renaissance brand comprising of over 75 participating Renaissance hotels internationally at the Marriott International GM’s conference held in San Francisco. He also received the Sales Leadership of the Year award.

“General Managers are only as good as their team” said Francisco. “Great leadership is only as good as great follow ship.
