Airbus A380 Auction Opens for Return Flight

Search TravelNewsAsia.com Latest Travel News Wednesday, 5 September 2007

The sale of seats on the Sydney to Singapore leg of the Singapore Airlines A380 Charity Flight has opened. The return leg of the charity flight will depart Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport on 26 October 2007 at 1600 hrs (Sydney time) and arrive in Singapore at 2200 hours (Singapore time). A majority of seats, across all cabin classes, will be available for bidding until 10 September 2007.

Those who have already secured seats on the Singapore-Sydney leg can also bid for the return if they wish. And those who are interested in being on both legs of the flight can also participate in the auction, as there are seats still open for bidding on the Singapore-Sydney leg. All proceeds of the auction will be donated to the following charities: One-third to Singapore’s Community Chest, one-third split between the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, both in Sydney and finally one-third to Médecins Sans Frontières, also known as Doctors Without Borders.

Economy Class bids will start at US $3.80, Business Class bids at US $38 and bids for the Singapore Airlines Suites will start at US $380.

To bid, you will need an eBay user ID and the names and passport numbers of those travelling. For bids on packages in the premium classes (Business and Suites), or bids over US$1,000 in Economy Class, pre-qualification will be required. This ensures bids are not artificially inflated, and gives bidders confidence they are bidding only against genuine and pre-qualified bidders. Prequalification is initiated online.
