BCD Travel, one of the world’s third largest travel management companies, has expanded its operations in Sweden through the acquisition of Travelflow, an independent Swedish travel management company with offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. The acquisition doubles BCD Travel’s present size in Sweden.

Ilona De March, president and COO for Europe and India for BCD Travel, said, “This move sends a strong signal to the Swedish and international markets that as a global player in the TMC industry, BCD Travel is committed to being where our customers need us to be – and to providing strong, best-in-class service with a local touch in all of our markets.”

Thomas Lundberg, BCD Travel’s senior vice president for the Nordic region, said, “Sweden is a key market within Europe, with a large number of companies that are world leaders in their fields. We have learned that customers and prospects are increasingly interested in being serviced with a strong local presence here, and we are delighted to be able to reinforce our service offering in this market.

“The acquisition of Travelflow is designed to enable efficient growth of our Swedish business through service and operational synergies. Additionally, we see this as an opportunity to move closer to our customers in the local market.”

In 2006, Travelflow had a turnover of more than 280 million SEK (31 million EUR). The company’s strength in the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector is a natural complement to BCD Travel’s customer portfolio of larger companies. Travelflow is also known for a strong meetings and incentives business, which offers significant synergies for BCD Travel’s independent business unit, BCD Meetings & Incentives.
