Singapore Airlines appoints Two Independent, Non-Executive Directors

Singapore Airlines has appointed Mr Lucien Wong and Mrs Christina Ong to its Board. Both Mr Wong and Mrs Ong have assumed office as independent, non-executive Directors.

Mr Lucien Wong is the Managing Partner of Allen & Gledhill. He specializes in banking, corporate and financial services work and has extensive experience and expertise in capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr Wong is widely regarded to be a leader in his field, with regular citations in international legal publications. He is a board member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and also served as a member of the Council on Corporate Disclosure and Governance, the body which was responsible for setting accounting and corporate governance standards in Singapore. He has sat on several law review committees in Singapore, which reviewed amendments to Singapore company and securities laws.

Mr Wong has been appointed as Chairman of the Board Nominating Committee and a member of the Board Audit Committee. 

Mrs Christina Ong is a well-known hotelier and fashion retailer who owns the Como Hotels & Resorts Group of hotels and spas. She is also the owner of various high-end international fashion stores under the Club 21 umbrella.

Her global business experience and deep insights from the lifestyle industry will be valuable to the Board, especially on issues affecting branding and marketing. Mrs Ong has been appointed as a member of the Board Nominating Committee.

The Board Audit Committee now comprises the following members:
