Work inflight with Singapore Airlines Office Tools

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 3 July 2007

Singapore Airlines is now offering travellers a comprehensive suite of office tools that includes spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing on its latest KrisWorld inflight entertainment system.

Customers dont even have to power up their laptops. They can access and save documents and files in their thumb drives simply by plugging them into the USB ports available at every seat.

Based on Sun Microsystems StarOffice platform, the programme supports most commonly used file formats. To ensure customers privacy, any data stored temporarily is cleared at the end of each flight.

For those who want to have their finger on the pulse while crossing different time zones, Live Text News produces an invaluable link to news happening on the ground. This news service is updated hourly via satellite. KrisWorld also offers other business-friendly applications such as Executive Book Summaries.

Culture Quest is another interactive learning application on KrisWorld that allows you to stay ahead of the game by providing cross-cultural tips for doing business at your destination.

The full suite of office applications from Sun Microsystems Staroffice Productivity Suite as well as learning applications Culture Quest and Executive Book Summaries are available on the new KrisWorld which can be found on Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, as well as the upcoming Airbus A380.
