S.K.Y. Travel appoints Brandon Lau as General Manager – Hong Kong

Prominent Hong Kong tourism industry identity, Brandon Lau, has been appointed general manager – Hong Kong of the travel group S.K.Y. Travel, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuoni Travel, one of the world’s leading, travel organizations.

Based in Hong Kong, Mr Lau will be responsible for the overall management of the travel group’s Hong Kong operations, as well as the on-going branding of the company as one of Hong Kong’s premium tour operators.

Managing director of S.K.Y. Travel, Danny Kondic, said Mr Lau’s appointment stems from his almost 30 years experience in the industry. “Mr Lau has a very strong results-based track record in the Hong Kong tourism industry,” Mr Kondic said.

“He has played an integral role in the shaping of Hong Kong tourism and we are very pleased to welcome such a well-respected industry identity back to S.K.Y. Travel to lead the helm.”

Mr Lau joined P&O Travel, now known as S.K.Y. Travel in 1980, where he worked until 2003, moving through the ranks from tour guide, to his current position of General Manager-Hong Kong. He has been a popular lecturer over the years on a variety of travel and tourism subjects at the Hong Kong Travel and Tourism Training Centre, the Hong Kong College of Technology and the Travel Industry Council; and has been appointed as convenor of the Training Committee for the Outbound Tour Escort Examination course, organised by the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong.

A prominent member of a number of key industry organizations, Mr Lau is currently an inbound committee member of the Travel Industry Council, an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Outbound Tour Operators’ Association, and honorary secretary of the Federation of Hong Kong Chinese Tourist Association.
