Travel News Asia Monday, 29 January 2007

Cruise operator Silversea has launched its Privileged Passage programme. The innovative concept is scheduled for a test voyage aboard Silver Cloud's 13th July 2007 cruise, sailing seven days from Athens to Istanbul.

"Privileged Passage is designed to offer optimal flexibility, so it makes sense to test it out on a cruise that is convenient for busy professionals to fit into their schedules and where the ports of call compliment the essence of the voyage" said Trudy Redfern, Silversea's Vice President of Sales and Marketing for UK, Ireland and the Middle East.

Privileged Passage will launch aboard Silver Cloud's "Treasures of Antiquity" voyage (1718), departing 13th July 2007. This unique, ultra-inclusive 7-day cruise will journey from Athens to Istanbul with calls in Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Patmos and Kusadasi. All inclusive cruise only Early Booking Incentive fares start at 3,325 per person.

The ultra-flexible Privileged Passage lifestyle dispenses with formal nights and receptions. Guests do not have to worry about packing a dinner jacket or evening dress, as they have the freedom to dress in comfortable casual resort attire throughout the cruise. Guests find it easier to design their day with extended open hours for the fitness centre and spa. They also have the privilege to request Early Embarkation and Late Disembarkation at no additional cost. Silversea also makes it easier for guests to personalise their experiences ashore by offering a selection of complimentary tours specially designed to intimately connect travellers to the places and cultures they visit. Other enhancements include a more-casual, trendsetting entertainment programme featuring jazz ensembles and an international DJ.

DJ Ravin: As host of the first Privileged Passage voyage, Silver Cloud will have the pleasure of welcoming the phenomenally successful DJ Ravin to Silversea to perform a mesmerising mix show evoking his eclectic, pioneering musical style. Ravin, who was born on Mauritius Island and spent his teenage years in France, is the resident DJ of the renowned Buddha Bar in Paris. He is sure to enchant Silversea guests with his talent for mixing sounds from around the world to create a passionate and entertaining club experience.

Chef Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat: Also on board will be Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat, Executive Chef of the multi-award-winning Chiva-Som luxury health resort in Thailand. The renowned chef, a member of the prestigious British Airways Culinary Council, is partnering with Silversea to present his signature culinary style, a fusion of Thai and European cuisines based on a philosophy of health and nutrition. Recognised the world over for his innovative culinary approach to well-being, Chef Cheewinsiriwat will share his passion for the culinary arts and the secrets of his highly acclaimed spa cuisine through demonstrations, cooking classes and special menu selections.

Complimentary Tours Ashore: Guests on this voyage will also enjoy three complimentary shore adventures carefully designed to reveal the region's people, culture and history. From the breathtaking scenic views of the legendary island of Mykonos, to an exploration of the charming whitewashed village of Lindos and its famed Acropolis, to a classical concert at ancient Ephesus -- Privileged Passage guests will be enlightened and entertained as they discover some of the world's most fascinating destinations.
