Travel News Asia Thursday, 28 June 2007

Following the success of last years inaugural Asia Pacific competition, Hong Kong Little League has confirmed that it is again partnering with the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort to host the up-coming 2007 Little League Baseball Asia Pacific Tournament.

Ten teams from across the Asia Pacific region will compete at Hong Kong Disneyland Resorts two dedicated baseball fields from July 8 to July 14, with an opening and closing ceremony rounding out each end of the Tournament. The players represent a host of nations; the Asia Region Group includes teams from Hong Kong, Korea, Peoples Republic of China (PRC), Chinese Taipei and Thailand. The Pacific Region Group includes teams from Guam, New Zealand, Indonesia, Philippines and Mariana Islands. The winner of the Tournament will advance to the Little League World Series held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania (USA) in August, 2007.

A special surprise guest will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Tournaments opening ceremony, starting at 10:30am on July 8, after which competition amongst the ten countries and regions is expected to heat up. Four games will be held on the first day, July 8: at 11:00, 12:00, 1:30 and 2:30; alternating between the main and secondary fields. After that, games will be held at 10:00 and 1:00 daily until July 12 two games playing in each time-slot.

After a scheduled day-off on July 13, the Tournament will culminate on July 14 in a consolation game being held at 10:00 on the main field, followed by the final game at 1:00. The closing ceremony will then wrap up the week-long event.

Hong Kong Disneyland is honored to be the venue sponsor of the Little League Baseball Asia Pacific Tournament once again as its one of the major youth sporting events in the region; we hope that hosting the event here adds a unique dash of fun and excitement. The team at Hong Kong Disneyland is looking forward to welcoming back the Little Leaguers and their families and we wish the event every success. said Bill Ernest, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

Tickets to all games during the Tournament are free-of-charge to the public and are available from the Hong Kong Disneyland Ticket Express Counter at Hong Kong MTR Station from July 4 onwards. Each person can obtain up to six tournament tickets per day. Group tickets are available through Hong Kong Little League (phone +852 - 2504 4007).

Hong Kong Disneyland will provide free shuttle buses to and from the Disneyland MTR stop. ESPN is the official broadcaster of the Tournament and will provide a one-hour TV program summary highlighting the event.
