Hong Kong prepares Spectacular Farewell for Queen Mary 2

The Queen Mary 2 will bid farewell to Hong Kong in spectacular style on Wednesday evening as one of the world’s grandest ocean liners gracefully departs the port to the stunning visual and audio effects of the “Symphony of Lights” Show on Victoria Harbour.

Scheduled to depart Modern Terminals in Kwai Chung at 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 28, the Queen Mary 2 will sail through Victoria Harbour at 8:00pm against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hong Kong skyline, offering the public and budding photographers an unprecedented opportunity to witness history in the making.

“We are delighted that the Queen Mary 2 will be part of one of Hong Kong’s most iconic performances as part of her maiden world voyage. We hope that Hong Kong residents and international visitors alike will take the rare opportunity to view the majestic Queen Mary 2 from the various vantage points on both sides of Victoria Harbour,” said Trey Hickey, Vice President of International Sales & Marketing of Cunard Line.

The 2,620 guests aboard the Queen Mary 2 will also enjoy the Symphony of Lights spectacle as the audio soundtrack is synchronized with the lights perfectly and played throughout the ocean liner.

The Queen Mary 2 will arrive in Hong Kong for the first time ever early Wednesday morning as part of her maiden voyage around the world. She will stay at Modern Terminals in Kwai Chung for one day before departing for her next South East Asian ports of call, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Over 300 Hong Kong and mainland Chinese passengers will set sail on the Queen Mary 2 from Hong Kong, which is a testament to the global reach of Cunard as one of the world’s most recognized luxury brands.

Queen Mary 2 departed Fort Lauderdale, USA, on January 10, 2007, carrying guests on an 80-day voyage visiting 20 of the world’s most famous cities, including Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cairo, Athens, Rome and Paris.
