Asia Dive Expo and Boat Thai 2007 Join Forces

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 27 February 2007

Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) and Boat Thai 2007 are to join forces to deliver more substantial content and deeper synergies for exhibitors and visitors. Spanning wall-to-wall floor space of 7,000 square metres, ADEX and Boat Thai will be collocated in Hall 106 of the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangkok, Thailand from 27-29 April.

Heavyweights in their respective industries, ADEX brings to the pairing a solid 13-year track record of providing world-class trade and consumer platforms for the dive industry and related businesses. Recognised by the industry as one of Asia’s leading international dive exhibitions for the gathering of quality buyers and sellers, ADEX delivers a conducive business and networking environment that propels the growth of dive businesses. Dive professionals also benefit from the presentation of serious dive programmes, such as the Dive Business Seminar Series, which seek to update, educate and innovate. Boat Thai is one of the first international boat shows to be held in the heart of Thailand targeting native Thai consumers as well as the robust expatriate community. In its first edition, Boat Thai serves as an exciting counterpoint to ADEX, offering visitors a touch luxury and the chance to soak in boat displays, luxury yachts, charter services, the latest marine equipment and technology, and all other services and products associated with the marine industry.

Together, ADEX and Boat Thai should see an increase in visitor interest as there will be a greater selection of exhibits and activities; thereby allowing exhibitors to reach out to a wider group of potential and new consumers interested in water-sports. Both events are on target to attract a total of 400 exhibitors and more than 17,000 local, regional and international visitors. Exhibitors who were keen on having a foot in both events will also experience substantial cost savings as they no longer require two separate booths. Further, exhibitors can look forward to the roll-out of an integrated cross promotional plan in Bangkok with double the impact in the areas of publicity, advertising and promotion, guerilla as well as online marketing.

“We have supported both Boat Thai and ADEX from the beginning and welcome this move to collocate both events as an intelligent one which benefits all parties. There are natural synergies between the shows and while they may target different categories of visitors, cross-overs are very likely given the fluidity of interests and preferences, leisure pursuits and even income brackets these days. We are confident that two is better than one, and together, ADEX and Boat Thai will make an even bigger splash in Bangkok come April,” said Vithaya Sintharapantorn, Director – Exhibitions, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

The collocation of related events to provide a complementary industry platform follows a well-documented international trend. Examples of world-renowned events which have successfully married large dive and boat segments include Seawork in Southampton, an international commercial maritime exhibition and business forum which presents Divework and Ribwork jointly and Dive Middle East Exhibition which takes place alongside the Dubai International Boat Show.

“As the organiser of complementary water-themed lifestyle events that involve diving and boating, it is only a question of time before we progress toward a more cohesive presentation of these events. The advantages of adopting this current trend include the ability to tap on the natural synergies of collocation, expanding the ambit of influence for two groups of distinct yet complementary stakeholders while offering visitors a wider selection of content. We are happy to offer the ADEX and Boat Thai exhibitors and visitors twice the benefits this year!” said Roel van Leeuwen, Director, Suntec Integrated Media.
