Langham Hotels International to manage New Hotel in Changchun, China

Travel News Asia Wednesday, 25 July 2007

Langham Hotels International has signed a management contract for the Langham Place Hotel, Changchun in China.

The management contract was signed with Changchun Jinzuo Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. for a new five-star hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2009 in downtown Changchun. This is LHI’s second new hotel announcement within the past 3 months after the Langham Place Hotel, Chaoyang, Beijing, reflecting the group’s accelerated expansion plan in China.

Langham Place Hotel, Changchun is located at the bustling commercial district of Changchun, a city of 7 million people and the capital city of Jilin Province in North East China. The hotel is ideally located at the intersection of Changjiang Road and People's Street, the city's most prosperous precinct, and is a 5-minute walk away from the Changchun Railway Station. The hotel forms a part of the Jinzuo Building - the tallest landmark building in Jilin Province - comprising the Langham Place Hotel, 5A-rated offices and an integrated shopping complex developed by Changchun Jinzuo Group.

The five-star 34-storey hotel will be managed under the “Langham Place” brand and will provide 350 stylish bedrooms and suites plus 100 high quality serviced apartments. The hotel will feature 3,000 sqm of multi-purpose function space, including a grand ballroom and function rooms of varying sizes as well as four creative food and beverage concepts, making it a perfect location for all corporate and social events. As a city spa hotel, Langham Place will offer guests a Chuan Spa and Residences based on Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy of a journey to wellness where guests can rediscover their source.

“Benefiting from the central government’s policies to revitalise North East China, which is the country’s traditional industrial base, the investment environment of Changchun is undergoing continuous improvement with increasing business potential. In particular, the boom in tourism and convention and exhibition industry in recent years has spurred a strong demand for quality hotels. The limited supply of five-star luxury hotels in Changchun further enhances the business prospect for Langham Place Hotel, Changchun,” said Dr. KS Lo, Chairman of Langham Hotels International.
