Heritage Suites a Hip Hideaway in Siem Reap

Travel News Asia Wednesday, 25 July 2007

The newly opened Heritage Suites in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is nestled in tropical surroundings, minutes away from the peaceful Siem Reap River and the town centre.

Guests receive a warm welcome in a beautiful colonial house where attractive French architecture blends seamlessly with traditional Cambodian craftsmanship. Twenty spacious suites, designed in a contemporary minimalist style, offering the utmost privacy and indulgent comfort, are dotted around a lush garden oasis and a Balinese inspired salt-water swimming pool.

Inside the large open-plan suites, a design of hardwoods and Cambodian silks, with Japanese inspired lighting, creates a restful and intimate atmosphere. The one-bedroom bungalows have an open-plan bathing area and bedroom, with separate living area. The king-size bed faces a large roll-top bath, oversized shower and steam room. The floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a private garden with open-air shower surrounded by bamboo trees, lotus flowers and water lilies.

Following a fascinating and memorable day discovering the temples, guests can unwind in the stunning Balinese salt-water swimming pool, equipped with a cooling system to keep the water at the perfect temperature. The open-air thatch-roof bar serves a variety of cocktails and refreshments.

Breakfast, traditional Khmer cuisine, Asian dishes and Western delicacies can be enjoyed inside the colonial house or al-fresco by the pool.

A variety of tailor-made off-the-beaten-path Heritage Adventures are available as part of the guest experience. From a cycle ride through the jungle to discover hidden temples, to a sunset cruise on a traditional Khmer boat.

Member of the highly regarded Relais & Chateaux alliance, Heritage Suites is the dream child of entrepreneur Didier Faraud, whose last project was the five star Victoria Angkor Resort and Spa.

Didier said, “With over 300 temples set amongst stunning scenery, Angkor is a place for an adventure as much as a holiday. I want to offer guests more than just a wonderful place to stay with a full and complete package that can be tailored to suit individual needs, whether it be for a the ideal romantic break or the adventure holiday of a lifetime.”
