Simon Pearson joins Marco Polo Hotels as Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Travel News Asia Monday, 25 June 2007

Marco Polo Hotels has appointed marketer Mr. Simon Pearson as Vice President, Sales & Marketing.

Mr. Pearson, who has worked with hotel groups such as Hyatt International, Hilton International, InterContinental Hotels and The Peninsula Group, has international experience that includes assignments in Khartoum, London, Singapore, Sydney, Cairo, Broome, and Hong Kong.

Mr. Jeffrey Flowers, President of Marco Polo Hotels, said the group had been looking for several months to find the right candidate to take the lead on several planned marketing initiatives including the possible set-up of its own central reservations and call center facility as well as further development of its Tai Pan loyalty program.

“Having the right fit at the senior management level takes time. We had been searching for several months and found candidates that were either too junior or senior candidates that were well established in their careers with no desire to move. We were very fortunate to find Simon at a time that coincided with his desire to return to the hotel industry.”

“Simon has many years of multi-unit marketing experience with particular skills in reservations and distribution marketing. As Marco Polo continues to grow, his skills and experience can guide us in further developing our marketing strategy and infrastructure,” said Mr Flowers.

Well-known in the industry as an accomplished marketing strategist, Mr Pearson has been responsible for the development of innovative multi-unit sales and marketing programs including brand, communications and distribution initiatives.
