Westin Guangzhou to open Mid-May

Travel News Asia Wednesday, 2 May 2007

The Westin Guangzhou is on track to open mid-May. Offering a full spectrum of amenities and services, the Westin Guangzhou is located in the heart of the city’s Tian He business district. The hotel neighbors CITIC Plaza, home to the majority of the Fortune 500 companies based in the southern provincial capital, and is steps away from Guangzhou East railway station, the arrival point for trains from Hong Kong.

Featuring 13,000 square feet of meeting and function space along with five food and beverage outlets, a state of the art spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools with Jacuzzis, the Westin Guangzhou is part of a multi-purpose development of two towers – the second housing premium office units.

Highlights of the new hotel include spacious guest rooms of at least 50 sq meters offering the ultimate in comfort and technology including the Westin Heavenly Bath, high speed internet, flat screen LCD televisions and cordless IP phones.

Westin Guangzhou’s signature rooms are the 28 Renewal Rooms which are larger than 71 sq meters and feature additional amenities and services, including an executive work area with oversized desk, Herman Miller chairs and Bose wave radio.

Recreational facilities include the WESTINWORKOUT Powered by Reebok Gym, including sauna with indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The spa is an urban sanctuary featuring a series of therapies and treatments.

A 24-hour business center offers a wide range of services, including copying, printing and fax as well as self-service PCs and internet access. Wireless internet is available in all guest rooms and suites, meeting spaces, restaurants and public areas, including the pool deck.

Among the five restaurants and bars is Qba, an upbeat Latin bar and restaurant featuring live entertainment and a Cuban cigar lounge. The all-day dining venue Taste features a contemporary buffet, ŕ-la-carte selection, Tapas-style snacks, wine and cocktails.

Modern and authentic Cantonese specialties along with innovative regional Chinese cuisine are served at Hong Mian, which has 10 private rooms. The lobby lounge, White Scent, serves light snacks and assorted tea and coffee. On the 40th floor and featuring stunning city views, Prego is an upscale rooftop restaurant serving authentic Italian cuisine with the most extensive wine list in the city.

Guangzhou is at the hub of the Pearl River Delta, one of the most economically dynamic and flourishing areas in China, approximately 182 kilometers from Hong Kong. As the political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural center of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou is home to almost 30% of the world’s Fortune 500 companies. It is known as the “City of Flowers” with sightseeing ranging from thousand-year-old temples to natural retreats like Mount Baiyun Scenic Belt and Conghua Hot Spring.
