InterContinental Hotels Group has signed up to Virgin Blue’s loyalty programme, Velocity.

As of today, over 750,000 Priority Club Rewards members in Australia and New Zealand will have the opportunity to enrol to earn Velocity points every time they stay at IHG’s 3,700 hotels throughout the world, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Express by Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites hotels and resorts.

In addition, Velocity members who have signed up to Priority Club will also earn Velocity Points for stays at IHG hotels, as well as receiving automatic benefits every time they stay including extended checkout and complimentary daily newspaper, with Elite members receiving automatic room upgrades, guaranteed room availability and priority check-in.

To celebrate the partnership, Priority Club Rewards is offering double Velocity points for stays at IHG hotels worldwide until 30 June 2007.

IHG will complement the stable of foundation partners including Virgin Atlantic Airways, Emirates and Europcar which already offer air travel and car hire benefits for Velocity members. National Australia Bank is the programme’s financial partner.

IHG Chief Operating Officer Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Keith Barr said, “This is a marriage of two pioneering customer loyalty programs. Both make it easy to earn points and even easier to redeem them, and the combination of benefits will be powerfully attractive to travellers in Australia, New Zealand and around the world.”
