Cyndi Lee leads June OM Yoga and Meditation Retreat at Begawan Giri in Bali

Travel News Asia Wednesday, 2 May 2007

From 5th to 11th June, 2007, Cyndi Lee, one of the world’s leading Hatha Yoga teachers, will host a residential retreat at COMO Shambhala Estate at Begawan Giri in Bali, Indonesia.

Cyndi Lee, founder of OM Yoga in New York, has been teaching since 1978. A long time practitioner of both Hatha Yoga and Tibetan Buddhism, she has been studying with Gehlek Rimpoche since 1990.

Known as a playful teacher with a nurturing style, the OM approach blends flowing sequences with precise alignment, all practice informed by the wakeful spaciousness of mindful meditation.

During this summer retreat, there will be two classes per day. The three-hour morning sessions will include instruction in meditation, followed by invigorating asana practice. The afternoon sessions will take two hours and include hip openers, restorative Yoga, pranayama and walking meditation in the natural forests that surround The Estate.

Lee’s retreat is open to practitioners of all levels, including beginners. More advanced students will find space to push themselves to new levels owing to the Estate’s uniquely nurturing attitude.

At the COMO Shambhala Estate at Begawan Giri Lee’s students will not only benefit from her teaching but will also be assisted by the Estate’s leading specialists in contemporary holistic health. Tailored hands-on healing ranges from massage to Ayurvedic and water-based therapies. In addition, students can pair their Yoga with healthful COMO Shambhala cuisine and nutritional juices to maximise the benefits of their stay.

Accommodation includes five Residences, which each have four to five suites and a large swimming pool. Each dominates its own peaceful enclave, drenched in sun and cooled by inland breezes. There are five one, two and three-bedroom standalone Villas with assorted living space and private pools, and three two-bedroom Garden Villas which feature living and dining areas as well as private pools. The two one-bedroom Retreat Villas both feature a private therapy room (for couples) and private pool.

With special single traveller rates, guests can engage at their pace and experience the powerful camaraderie created by shared goals. The Estate’s Yoga retreats are known for not just making life-changing improvements to a client’s health; guests also leave with life-long friends.

Retreat prices start at US$2,690 for single occupancy or US$4,720 for double occupancy.
