Hilton to manage Hotel in Guiyang, China

Hilton has signed an agreement with Guizhou Honizon Real Estate Development to manage a hotel in Guiyang, China. The Hilton Guiyang will be developed in two phases - the first phase will be completed at the end of 2008, and will comprise 100 guest rooms and 70 serviced apartments. The second phase will include another 230 guest rooms by the end of 2009.

The Hilton Guiyang will be situated in the commercial district of Guiyang, one of the largest cities in the western region of China. It will form part of a deluxe mixed-use development on the banks of the Nanming River. In addition to the Hilton Guiyang, the complex will include upscale housing developments, shopping malls, office buildings and community infrastructure such as a hospital, kindergardens, schools and a culture and science exhibition centre.

Koos Klein, President Asia Pacific, Hilton Hotels Corporation, said, “In addition to accommodating an increasing number of leisure travellers who are exploring this booming city set against a scenic backdrop of lakes, hills and diverse ethnic attractions, the Hilton Guiyang will offer a new and unrivalled destination in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) sector.”

“With a prime location and state-of-the-art hotel facilities planned, we will be uniquely positioned to cater to a wide spectrum of guests’ needs - whether it is local residents planning their wedding banquet or corporate or representatives from any of the 300 foreign invested companies in Guiyang,” Mr. Klein added.

Hilton Guiyang will offer a variety of all-day dining and speciality restaurants, bars and lounges. There will be extensive banqueting and Hilton Meetings facilities and Business Centre, as well as a health club and spa with outdoor and indoor swimming pools.

Easily accessible, the hotel and development is located 3 kilometres from the main train station, 5 kilometres from the city centre and 14 kilometres from Guiyang Long Dong Bao Airport, which was completed in 1997.

Guiyang is known for its stunning landscape and its 110-square kilometre Red Maple Lake. It is a city of cultural diversity, with 37 ethnic groups among the local population. According to Guiyang Tourism Bureau, tourism to Guiyang increased by 40% with 3.5 million domestic and overseas visitors arriving in the city in the first quarter of 2007.
