Hong Kong Tycoon orders Boeing 787 VIP

Travel News Asia Wednesday, 23 May 2007

Boeing Business Jets has received an order for a 787 VIP airplane from Hong Kong real estate tycoon Joseph Lau. The order is valued at approximately US$153 million at today's list price.

The order for a 787-8 VIP airplane brings the total number of Boeing business jets sold this year to eight airplanes. With this new order, a total of seven 787 VIP jets have been ordered directly from Boeing.

"The 787 VIP is an extremely attractive jet for wealthy and successful entrepreneurs, especially in Asia where business is conducted over long distances. The 787 has it all - long-range capability, advanced technology and a spacious, comfortable cabin - attributes that are needed to conduct business around the world," said Boeing Business Jets President Steven Hill.

The VIP-configured 787-8 offers 2,404 square feet (223.3 square meters) of cabin space. The first commercial 787 Dreamliner is scheduled to roll out of the Everett, Washington, factory on July 8.
