One of the world’s largest providers of serviced apartments, Oakwood, is to open the Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 on 1 December 2007.

The Sukhumvit 24 property, which will offer daily as well as long-stay rates, marks the first of four new Oakwood developments in Bangkok to be unveiled by Oakwood Asia Pacific, which plans to open 19 new properties in Asia by 2009.

“Many corporate and leisure visitors are now choosing serviced apartments instead of hotels,” said Mr John MacNeill, General Manager of the Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24, where fully equipped kitchens, broadband internet connectivity and 32-inch LCD screens are part of each room. “Serviced apartments offer more in terms of home environment with hotel style services and facilities,” he said.

The Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 offers modern and fully equipped Studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom residences as well as a full restaurant, business centre, residents’ lounge, gym, valet parking, 24-hour security, a rooftop swimming pool and sun deck.

Frank Foster, Oakwood Asia Pacific’s Singapore-based Vice President Marketing and Sales, said, “There have been recent positive trends in Thailand such as government support for investment in mass transit systems and the implementation of a Free Trade Agreement between Thailand and Japan. Such initiatives create demand for trusted serviced apartment brands. Oakwood makes it easy for companies by helping busy foreign executives move in to a new residence and start work without the hassle of searching for apartments or housing.”

Oakwood has also announced that it will open new serviced apartments in Sukhumvit 16 in Bangkok in the first quarter of 2008, and in the Thonglor and Bang Na areas of Bangkok by the beginning of 2009. Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 opens as the 16th property of Oakwood Asia Pacific.
