Discover Tropical Sanya with China Southern Airlines

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Friday, 23 November 2007

China Southern Airlines is now operating seven flights daily from the gateway city of Guangzhou to one of China's fastest growing destinations, the tropical island of Sanya.

This tropical seaside resort is nestled in the southern end of Hainan Island just off the southern coast of China, and only an 80 minute jet flight from Guangzhou.

Away from the hustle and bustle of urban China, Sanya visitors can spend their days just strolling the beaches, breathing the fresh sea air and taking in the natural beauty of surrounding mountains, rivers and sea.

Sanya also offers a wide and growing range of accommodation options - from budget properties to five-star hotels and resorts including Sanya Resort Spa Marriott, Kempinski Resort and Spa Sanya, Sheraton Sanya Resort and Yalong Bay Mangrove Tree Resort Sanya.

China Southern's Regional Manager Australia, James Liu, said Sanya was an ideal destination for travellers wanting to experience the diversity of China.

"Guangzhou offers fantastic shopping and a great introduction to urban China, and Sanya offers relaxing tropical beaches and a range of exciting touring activities," said Mr Liu.

"A major tourist attraction is Monkey Island, just off Sanya and home to the endangered Macaque monkeys, who run freely throughout the park," he said.

The region is also enriched with a 2000 year old history and more than 20 ethnic groups, and local cuisine offers a unique fusion of cultures and a wide range of choices.

The airline recently expanded its services from Australia to Guangzhou by introducing twice weekly non-stop flights from Melbourne and increasing to daily flights from Sydney, with onward connections to Sanya. .
