Best Western to open Hotel in Kota Kinabalu

Best Western is extending its brands reach into East Malaysia with Best Western Kinabalu Daya Hotel, located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah.

The hotel will soon open with 107 newly renovated, modern guestrooms and will turn the key on 18 more before the end of the year. The room tally is expected to reach 137 in 2008.

Best Western Kinabalu Daya Hotel is situated in the capitals downtown, and within walking distance of major shopping malls, offices and banks, restaurants and tourist attractions.

Kota Kinabalu is one of Malaysias fastest growing resort destinations due to its proximity to five tropical islands and the world renowned 4,095-meter Mount Kinabalu with its pristine rainforest, said Best Western Vice President International Operations Asia, Glenn de Souza.

Kota Kinabalu is home to Malaysias second busiest airport and is considered the gateway to Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. It serves flights from Kuala Lumpur and international markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Manila, Bangkok, Taipei, Brunei and Australia.

Kota Kinabalu welcomed 3 million visitors in 2006 and expects the arrival figure to top 5 million by the end of 2010, Mr de Souza said. The addition of the Best Western Kinabalu Daya Hotel aims to support the rising number of travelers while meeting our tourist arrival-volume targets.

The Best Western Kinabalu Daya Hotels spacious rooms are all wired for high-speed internet connections. Wireless access is also available in the rooms as well as in public areas.

Two function rooms are capable of hosting 80 persons each, and for dining, Hunters offers breakfast and lunch before transforming into a Karaoke-pub in the evening. Hunters Terrace offers a cozy outdoor venue for casual dining and wining.
