Co-hosted by The Moodie Report and Hugo Boss, “Turning Tears into Smiles”, The Smile Train Charity Ball 2007 was successfully held at the Grand Ballroom of Regal Airport Hotel earlier this month to raise funds for The Smile Train, one of the world’s leading cleft lip and palate charities.

More than 260 participants from around the world came to Hong Kong to attend this unique international charity event. Over US$300,000 has so far been raised through the dinner as well as live and silent auctions in order to provide high-quality, accredited cleft lip and palate surgeries and awareness programmes in developing countries. The sum is expected to climb much higher once final calculations have been made. It costs just US$250 for the simple 45-minute cleft operation that transforms a child’s life – already 1,200 children will receive operations as the result of this event.

Mr Martin Moodie, the Founder and Publisher of The Moodie Report, said, “I am really thankful for the magnificent efforts of Regal Airport Hotel in providing such a wonderful dinner for our event. Everything was first-class, with some very elegant touches, flavours and presentation.”

Mr Richard Hodges, the General Manager of Regal Airport Hotel, stated “It is our great pleasure to serve such a meaningful event at our hotel. I’m glad to see so many generous donors fly to Hong Kong to attend this charity ball and raise funds for changing children’s lives.”
