On Monday, Hong Kong Express Airways took delivery of the first of seven B737-800 aircraft scheduled to join the airline’s fleet this year.

Marking the transition into the next stage in the airline’s development, the introduction of the next generation B737-800 aircraft will see Hong Kong Express Airways launch a number of new routes this year as well as add capacity on existing routes. Including Xian and Wuhan, new destinations will also extend beyond China to wider East Asia following the success of the route between Hong Kong and Chiang Mai launched mid last year.

The seven Boeing 737 aircraft scheduled for delivery throughout 2007 will be configured in a two cabin class arrangement with seating for a total of 164 passengers: 8 Business Class seats and 156 Economy Class seats.

The airline currently provides scheduled services to Mainland China and Southeast Asia. Hong Kong Express Airways will unveil its new brand identity in Hong Kong on January 29th.
