LAN Airlines appoints New Sales Manager Australia - New Zealand

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 22 May 2007

LAN Airlines has appointed Catalina Gonzalez to the new position of Sales Manager, Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney.

Ms Gonzalez was previously based in the airline’s head office in Santiago, Chile, in a senior revenue management role which included responsibility for the Australasian routes.

LAN General Manager Australia, New Zealand and Asia, Mr Rodrigo Contreras, said the appointment of Ms Gonzalez was part of an upgrading of the Australia and New Zealand regions ahead of the carrier’s planned move to daily services from 20 December this year.

“With increased demand for travel to South America and increased capacity from Australia and New Zealand to Santiago, we are increasing our sales effort not only to South America but within the region, and Catalina will play a major role in developing and implementing this strategy,” said Mr Contreras.

“In addition to our long-haul airline, LAN, we also operate LAN Peru, LAN Ecuador and our newest subsidiary LAN Argentina,” he said. “Our role now is not only to sell seats and freight to our major gateway of Santiago, but to assist in developing tourism throughout South America, which is emerging as one of the world’s most exciting new destinations for leisure travel.”

LAN, a member of the oneworld airline alliance, currently operates a tri-class Airbus A340-300 service from Sydney to Auckland, then nonstop to Santiago every day except Thursday. A Thursday service will be introduced from 20 December, lifting LAN to daily operations from Australia and New Zealand.
