Gulf Air sponsors Bahrain Marathon Relay

Gulf Air is a main sponsor and the official carrier of Bahrains popular annual sporting and charity event - The Bahrain Marathon Relay 07 - being held on 23 November 2007 at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Gulf Air will be sending two teams to take part in the marathon lead by the airlines seasoned runners Jalal Alshehab and Ruth Tucker. The airline was also the main sponsor and official carrier of last years Marathon relay.

Gulf Air Acting President and Chief Executive Bjrn Nf, said, "We consider supporting the Marathon relay a corporate social responsibility and a worthwhile cause as the event is dedicated to raising funds for local charities to help the needy."

Organised by the Bahrain Round Table under the patronage of General Organisation for Youth and Sports (GOYS) the Relay this year will see more than 135 teams running approximately three kilometers, following a 16-leg format.

The annual sporting and fundraising event, which helped raise more than BD32, 000 for local charities last year, will see many international and national runners representing corporate houses, hotels, schools and other organisations.

Every participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a participant's medal and prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third placed men's / mixed teams and the first female team.
