Meet Janice Vidal at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

Travel News Asia Thursday, 19 July 2007

With the grace of a ballerina and the sizzle of a pop star, singing sensation Janice Vidal, on Wednesday, became the latest celebrity to be immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

Following the successful launches of Leo Ku’s wax figure in a space theme and the six Chinese Leaders and Heroes in celebration of HKSAR’s 10th Anniversary earlier this year, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is now introducing an electrifying summer theme. A survey was launched at the attraction as well as an online opinion poll to search for the celebrity that best represents summer. The paramount criterion was a lively, bubbly and energetic personality along with a great smile.

Voted the most popular celebrity who best represents “summer”, the sunny entertainer, Janice, wowed her fans in a special ceremony at The Peak as she unveiled her incredibly lifelike figure, resplendent in a green ballerina costume.

Janice’s figured is now featured in the Glamour section of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and is set inside an oversized music box that plays her signature tune, “Do you know?” as guests get up close and personal. Upon turning a key, Janice’s figure will turn slowly to the music, while guests can try to mimic her dancing. The themed and interactive display marks the first time that any Madame Tussauds attraction in the world has introduced a music box display to its collection.

Janice added, “I am deeply honored to be inaugurated into the hallowed halls of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. My wax figure is wearing one of my favorite dresses from my recent “My First Concert”, so I’ll always be performing for my fans at The Peak!”
