MakeMyTrip appoints K.N. Anand as Vice President, Outbound Tourism

MakeMyTrip has appointed Mr. KN Anand to the position of Vice President, Outbound Tourism. In this capacity, Mr. Anand will head the Outbound Leisure service offerings of the company. The range of services offered includes Escorted Group Tours, Holiday Plans for the Independent Traveler, Customized Holidays as well as Outbound MICE services. Distribution of the services will be done through both online and offline offerings of the company. Mr. Anand will be based out of Mumbai.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Keyur Joshi, COO & Co-Founder said, "MakeMyTrip is committed to delivering holistic travel solutions and we recognize outbound travel as a key area of growth in the sector. Outbound travel is currently growing at the rate of 30-40%. Anand brings with him an extensive experience in the industry. With his appointment, we believe we will be able to effectively cater to emerging consumer needs in this segment."

MakeMyTrip crossed Rs. 562 Crores (US$ 125 Million) in the last fiscal year, which is approximately a growth of 180% over last year's registered sales of Rs. 200 Crores (US$ 42 Million). The projected turnover for 2007 - 2008 fiscal year ending March 2008 is Rs 1260 crores (US$ 280 million), which represents a growth of 124% over the previous year.

Mr. Anand joins MakeMyTrip from Kuoni Travel India. In his most recent position as Vice President - International Markets, he headed the Business Unit offering services to Non Resident Indians across the globe. In his earlier role in the company as VP - Sales for the Outbound Division, he was instrumental in the rapid expansion of the retail presence of the SOTC brand through a Franchisee model, an industry-first.

Mr. Anand has extensive experience in the Indian Travel Industry, having worked across sectors. He has previously held positions at Cox & Kings and Thomas Cook. He received his Bachelors Degree in Science from Bangalore University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Systems Management from N.I.I.T, Bangalore.
